I love the Ellen show and always see her mom on the show and some of the wonderful things that Ellen has done for her mom so was very interested in how Ellen came out to her family and learned alot about her family. Greatly written book.

Betty's book is wonderful. I recommend it for people who are coming out, parents of gay children, friends of gay people, people who have been out, people who aren't gay or don't have gay friends of kids, everyone!
I first read Love, Ellen years ago in seventh grade. I was doing a biography on Ellen DeGeneres for my English class and needed a book for the assignment. I chose Love, Ellen because I didn't want Ellen's story from someone who would give untruthful information. Who better to tell your story than your mother? As I read this book I found myself laughing at Ellen's humor throughout her childhood and crying at the stories of young gay people whom Betty met while campaigning for equal rights. This is an amazing story that gives a lasting emotional touch. Buy this book, read it over and over agin!

It was interesting, nice to know the journey that Ellen and her Mum went through. Story was a bit slow in some parts but over all I'd recommend it as something to read, definitely not a waste of time or money!

I cannot stress how much this book has changed my life.

When I first came out of the closet, it was obvious that while my mother was trying to accept this, she was having a hard time of it. After reading only the introduction to this book, I raced to her room and asked her to read it.

My mother is an incredibly busy woman, and I have given her many books to read over the years. This is the very first time she ever finished one I brought to her attention, and it had a profound impact on our relationship.

Betty DeGeneres gives family members a story they can relate to, a new way of looking at it, and resources for them to check out... But it is by no means a dry account. It is deeply personal and deeply touching, and I can never thank Ms. Betty enough for writing it.
